The fictional company Raven designs and manufactures satellite components for the Phoenix metro area. The goal of this project was to visually represent the company’s brand in a compact logo that could be used for products, reports, and marketing materials.

 

The logo was designed to represent speed, simplicity, and direction—Raven’s brand identity. The design process featured multiple iterations that explored typeface, color, graphical shapes, and accents. The first few iterations were, admittedly, cluttered and overly complex. Unnecessary elements were removed in future iterations to evoke a sense of agility and clarity in the design.

 

The wings of the bird represent the “wings” of a satellite spreading over the earth as it orbits while the tail replaces the “v” in “Raven” to further simplify iconography and communication. Bright colors were used to create a modern feel and represent the innovation Raven strives for daily.
